You don’t normally come across princes testing cars!
Bu then again, he is the Prince of Bavaria and he had a BMW...

An earl even designed the 507 and other cars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albrecht_…

They weren’t exaggerating with the Z8 headline, it still looks like a brand new design.

The Z8 certainly is dream car material. For me at least.

Strangely it just doesn’t do it that much to me... Sure I would love to own one and all, but when I see one, do I look at it like an addict in need of his dose? Nope, not at all.
Forgetting about the value of the cars, if the E39 M5 and the Z8 were the same value, I’d take the E39 M5 in a heartbeat.

It still amazes me how a car the launched 18 years ago is considered the golden standard of what a sports sedan should be. Even the design held up really good imo.

Oh yes... Even today it still looks, sounds and drives amazingly!

And they’re still affordable.

Je manques mon M5. Les taxes Belgique sont outrageaux!

Les taxes in Germany are also very high as well as the insurance. What generation was your M5?

I had a 2000 M5 back in the USA. It was worth around $10,000 — to register in Belgium it would have been $5000 initially and about $3000/yr after.

Holy whaaa??? That’s a rip off. The tax in Belgium is based on the engine output if I remember correctly.

Depends where in Belgium... the laws in the south, Wallonia, where I live, are horrid. Not only is it based upon engine size and output (chevaux fiscal) which is the annual tax, there is the initial registration tax which is a combination of chevaux fiscal (CV) and the age of the car PLUS another fee called “ecomalus” which is based upon carbon output (gCO2/km) — which correlates with MPG or L/100km.

10/10 would move away. Annual taxes for an E39 M5 would be about €350

That’s nothing. That’s the annual tax for most 2Ls here. The Belgian government makes it unreasonably expensive to own anything >2L ... unless it is 30 years old.

That sucks. Germany will probably raise the taxes and end the tax advantages of diesel powered passenger cars to push electric vehicles in the next five years or so.
